Disney has released a second trailer for its upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series – and this one almost gives fans a proper look at Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader.
The studio had anticipated the arrival of new films in a tweet commemorating Star Wars Day (May 4), so speculation was rife about what more could be revealed about the upcoming Disney Plus show (which should start streaming on May 27).
Fortunately, the public is ready for a surprise. Kenobi’s full-length second trailer doubles down on the threats viewers can expect his titular Jedi to face in the series’ six episodes, offering more footage of the show’s evil inquisitors and further teasing the return of Christensen’s iconic villain. Take a look below:
Did you have time to catch your breath? Well, then let’s recap the premise of the show: set between the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope, Obi-Wan Kenobi will follow Ewan McGregor’s fan-favorite Jedi as he fights to survive against the rise of the new Galactic Empire, while also watching over a young Luke on Tatooine (and, presumably, Leia on Alderaan).
As revealed by Obi-Wan Kenobi first trailer back in March, we already knew that The Queen’s Gambit’s Moses Ingram would take on titular hero as force-sensitive inquisitor Reva, described by showrunners as a “ruthlessly ambitious” villain on a mission to “find Jedi-in-hiding for l “Empire. She will be led by Rupert Friend’s ruthless Grand Inquisitor, who first appeared in the animated series Star Wars Rebels. Both characters take center stage in the latest Kenobi trailer.”
Of course, McGregor will also come face to face Hayden Christensenis once again Darth Vader in the upcoming Disney Plus show. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has already promised fans the “revenge of the century” and this new footage – showing Vader’s iconic jumpsuit and creepy breath – makes us still more excited for that long-awaited showdown (just think of the memes!).
Additionally, in a new poster released alongside Kenobi’s latest trailer (which we’ve incorporated below), Christensen’s Vader can be seen – in all his evil glory – holding his legendary red lightsaber atop a creepy canyon, so maybe this is where it was said “rematch” will go down.

To the delight of Star Wars fans who may have grown weary of Tatooine (home to most of the events in both The Mandalorian And Boba Fett’s book), it appears that much of Kenobi’s action will take place on brand new planets like Daiyu, which “has a kind of Hong Kong vibe,” according to writer Joby Harold.
A significant amount of interplanetary travel tops our list of six things we want to see from the new Disney Plus showso let’s hope these never-before-seen locations provide you with that.
Ultimately, Kenobi’s return is just around the corner – as mentioned, the series is expected to start streaming on Disney Plus on May 27 – but if you want to recap the myriad adventures of Star Wars’ most beloved Jedi, a new collection focused on on Obi Wan-Kenobi has now been added to the Disney streamer.
May the fourth be with you, Star Wars fans …
