Dark Mode is one of the most popular trends of recent years, and almost all major apps and devices now have their own version of it. This includes Google apps like Google Calendar.

How to activate dark mode in Google Calendar on Android

To enable dark mode in the Google Calendar app for Android, you’ll use a built-in “Theme” menu. This menu allows you to manually activate dark mode or set it to activate dark mode only when the rest of the phone is in dark mode.

1. Open the Google Calendar app and tap the three stacked lines in the upper left corner, then scroll down and select Settings.

2. Faucet General at the top of the screen, then find and tap the Theme option.

3. Choose the Dark or System default options. Dark will activate dark mode permanently and System default it will only turn on if the rest of the phone is in dark mode as well.

How to turn on dark mode in Google Calendar on iPhone and iPad

Unlike the Android version, the Google Calendar app for Apple devices does not allow you to manually switch to dark mode. Instead, it always follows your device’s theme.

This means that if you want Google Calendar in dark mode, you will need to turn on dark mode for the entire iPhone or iPad.

1. Open the Settings app and scroll down to tap Display and brightness.

2. Under the Appearance header, select Darkor touch Automatic to set up a schedule that allows dark mode to be activated autonomously.

How to turn on dark mode on the Google Calendar website

The Google Calendar website doesn’t have any kind of native dark mode. To use the website in dark mode, you will need to download a browser extension.

The best extension for this is Night Eye, a free add-on available for all major web browsers. It works with thousands of different websites and is great for adding dark modes to sites that don’t have them. It also offers a number of customization options, allowing you to change the actual look of Dark Mode.

The downside is that Night Eye is only free for three months. After that, you’ll need to upgrade to Night Eye Pro to keep using it, or upgrade to Night Eye Lite, which allows you to keep only five websites at a time in dark mode.

1. Using your main web browser, go to the Night Eye website and choose the browser you are using. It will take you to the correct download page.

2. Add the extension to your browser.

3. Go to Google Calendar and select Night eye from your list of extensions, usually located in the upper right corner of the browser, marked with a puzzle piece icon.

4. Click Try for free to accept the terms, then refresh the page.
